I always had this question why do we quarrel with neighbors. Say US and Mexico, Eastern Europe and Western Europe, UK and Ireland, and India and Pakistan. Yes, difference of opinion exists may be the scale varies. Looks like it starts at the lowest level, individual psychology (OK, not going to tire you with social science)

Quickly moving to the solution part -- Swadesh.
Swadesh which means love thy neighbors - in an economic sense. Say US had given importance to Mexico than China for producing cost effective goods.

What are the advantages?

Cost effective goods.
Minimize border controlling expenses.
Transportation cost and carbon emission.
and at last treasury bankruptcy expenses.

May be we come out of the mindset of more more and more to share your love and wealth (Sorry, not trying to support communist but say compassionate capitalism) we would have been in a better position.

We can also work out the math (economics) with Pakistan.

Couldn't agree better!! talking about genius, Adam Gilchrist knows a piece or two abt it..the way he turned the tables for Deccan Chargers was absolutely amazing...If it was his batting genius that blew DD away from Durban to the streets of Delhi, it was the intensity he ignited during the final that made the difference between the winners and the runners-up..hats off to Gilli..

And talking abt sledging, for the first time I enjoyed Symonds' "kusalaprashnavali" to young Maneesh pandey as he was welcoming him to the crease!! But yes that's not fair play!!

Ashok- I totally agree that the blatant consumerism of Americans is responsible for the current economic woes and the way forward is to increase savings to bail the economy out of it. Here is an interesting article in Forbes which lays stress on savings

Wait for the 2012 Olympics. Once the city of London starts constructing the Olympic stadium for the 2012 Olympics, then our Giant TATA STEEL (Corus) will start supplying steel for the same purpose. Tata Steel just rocks!. With the global economy in tatters, people should not ignore the performance of Tata Steel in the market. Once the economy gets back on track, Tata Steel will rise like a pheonix. Mark my words, Tata Steel will rule!

Hi Ashok,

I quite agree with your opinion. While India's going for a War with Pakistan can spell disaster and take us back by more than 20 years, it might just be an inevitable thing. Read http://sahaye.wordpress.com/2008/12/10/pakistan-might-just-prefer-to-attack-india/ on what i mean to suggest.

Chandrayaan is a great achievement but only its technology not its cost. But I hate it when bloggers like you go on and on about its low cost. We must pay our scientists more.

Anyway that said, people rise out of poverty because of all round development. If you just doled out assistance to farmers whom would they sell their produce to?

One who opposes Chandrayaan, are influenced by western bias. They are creating an anti India phenomenon states India should be poor and they only get feed like a cattle. So that they can expand the market here by flooding useless produces in Indian market.

Someone selling vegetables on the streets obviously benefits, because of the proper weather forecast and planning, veggies can be produced with high quality and he can sell more. Also he know where to buy/sell the veggies for cheaper price from TV market status. Remote sensing is very important player in forecasting the weather.

Also poor gets right Information and knowledge by watching TV, and they can decide which part they can vote in the next election. They are watching TV because of the ISRO satellites. Most of the new generation in my village in South India doing Engineering now. It is only because of the education system is improved and people are getting right information from TV and they even know which college is good, lowest fees and getting campus interview by watching educational programs in local languages.

Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809, to Thomas Lincoln and Nancy Hanks, two uneducated farmers, it does not mean that he has to uneducated for ever. He ruled USA because of his talents.

One should not push India in the same poor status in the last century.
