Chandrayaan is a great achievement but only its technology not its cost. But I hate it when bloggers like you go on and on about its low cost. We must pay our scientists more.

Anyway that said, people rise out of poverty because of all round development. If you just doled out assistance to farmers whom would they sell their produce to?

One who opposes Chandrayaan, are influenced by western bias. They are creating an anti India phenomenon states India should be poor and they only get feed like a cattle. So that they can expand the market here by flooding useless produces in Indian market.

Someone selling vegetables on the streets obviously benefits, because of the proper weather forecast and planning, veggies can be produced with high quality and he can sell more. Also he know where to buy/sell the veggies for cheaper price from TV market status. Remote sensing is very important player in forecasting the weather.

Also poor gets right Information and knowledge by watching TV, and they can decide which part they can vote in the next election. They are watching TV because of the ISRO satellites. Most of the new generation in my village in South India doing Engineering now. It is only because of the education system is improved and people are getting right information from TV and they even know which college is good, lowest fees and getting campus interview by watching educational programs in local languages.

Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809, to Thomas Lincoln and Nancy Hanks, two uneducated farmers, it does not mean that he has to uneducated for ever. He ruled USA because of his talents.

One should not push India in the same poor status in the last century.

Tata Steel is right now bearing the brunt of the steel export ban imposed by this careless government. Mark my words, Tata Steel is going to hit back very strongly with its operations and the way they function. Never ever under-estimate Tata Steel. I always have this confidence in them. I am proud to say that I am a shareholder of Tata Steel and I have every reason to be happy that I have invested my hard earned money on this GIANT. Tata Steel management have never disappointed its shareholders till today. They have been paying handsome dividends to their shareholders who have the utmost trust and faith on this company. Long live Tata Steel, the king of Steel.

Tata Steel is the best company India has ever had. How can Mittal even think of taking over this GIANT called TATA STEEL? Nobody can shake Tata Steel. Tata Steel has the best management and their policies towards corporate governance is awesome. I have the utmost faith in their day to day business. Tata Steel is managed by the best minds in the industry. It includes highly educated people from the likes of IITs and IIMs. They have never let the shareholders down in the history of their existence. Tata Steel is called as HANDS OF STEEL. Other companies like Reliance, Birlas should learn from the way TATAS work. Sorry Mittal, you can look to takeover other companies, but please do not think of Tata Steel. Long live Tata Steel, the king of India and the world.

Ashok,
Depends on what the marginal utility of your haircut boils down to :-) Maybe if you tried growing it longer and going say - once in 3 months instead of once a month - your perceived utility would be higher!

Add to that the (absence of) fringe benefits of going to super-cuts. Distinct emphasis on speed as opposed to 'quality'. Try the local salon instead! My 'stylist' comes from South Africa, and has a point of view on movies, tourism and the in-laws. So - good conversation guaranteed every time. My utility is growing in leaps and bounds!

You can try pingo (pingo.com). Good quality and never had any problem (web site works great) and i believe cheaper than reliance.
Better if you can ship a voip connection (like vonage) to india and use it with broadband internet service to make calls to and from US (just like local calls)

Well, Tata Steel has been and will remain the war-horse of Tatas. Mittal can play acquisition game with sole steel giants across geography, but not with Tatas having spreading empire across business lines. Tata Steel has been recently declared as the most reputed organization voted by financial institutions, investors. That shows the clout of this organization and brand equity. Always the lowest cost producer of the world, this company has miles to go. When stake holedrs, investors have tremendous faith in the management and leadership, no Mittla can trounce them.

Being a former Tata Steel employee, I strongly believe that processes- be it human resource, business, marketing or corporate social responsibility existing in this compnay can be a learning hub for other organizations in India or abroad.
